Sustainable Projects for Resilience, Innovation and Germination (SPRIG)

MESA promotes a ‘share and learn’ model to help seed thriving rural communities worldwide.

Each year, MESA raises funds for Stewards to implement Sustainable Projects for Resilience, Innovation and Germination (SPRIG), combining skills gained through their training with their unique knowledge of their own communities’ needs and aspirations.

MESA SPRIGs are based on a competitive matching grant model. Stewards are invited to develop SPRIG ideas during their US training period, present their project concepts to at least three people in the Host community, and submit a project proposal to MESA. Besides technical support, MESA provides modest seed funding: Stewards must raise an equal amount of funding or in-kind donations to ensure project viability.

MESA’s Global Partners often serve as technical advisers to the projects.
